Fall Trends Getting The Most Use of Your Dollars

Hello all. Its been a little while but I'm still here in these streets looking and searching for thrifted  clothing items that I know you would appreciate and love. I've just uploaded my latest YouTube  video of my Fall Haul pieces I found and styled throughout the last couple of months. The video  discusses some of the Fall fashion trends, such as leather in various colors different from the  traditional black and brown and transitioning pieces from Summer to Fall. Also how you can take  that favorite Summer dress and wear it throughout the remaining seasons.  My favorite tip is how you create that look even if its a bigger size. Watch! I would love to get your  feed back.

Designer items Found in Remote Places

I remember the first time going to a Goodwill Retail Outlet. I was extremely overwhelmed. Seeing all those people grabbing for clothing items, the rows and rows of bins, and just wondering if  anything good can come from spending time searching through piles of what appears to be rubbish. Lo and behold I came across a Louis Vuitton belt that was extremely damaged, (yes it was authentic). I first noticed the buckle from a glance and  thought, " That's a shame, I can't do anything with that. So I overlooked it and continued on my searching adventure. I did end up leaving the store that day with some great finds, but once I got home my mind kept going back to that old tattered Louis belt I overlooked. As a matter of fact, every time I go back to the outlet, I think about that trip and what I overlooked.  Now you might ask , "What's the big deal? The belt was damaged. Actually the strap was but the buckle was not. The belt buckle could have been removed, and repl

Wear it well

I get so many questions from others asking what clothing pieces could I wear that's age appropriate. Now grant it every trend nor every piece of clothing is for everybody considering body shapes, and sizes. But finding the piece that works, the best answer I can give is wear what reflects your personality and wear it well. Age for some may be a factor but it doesn't have to be. I'm over a certain age, however my personality and aesthetic varies. One day I might want to style the Bo Ho trend, another day I may be rocker chic, some days my style is corporate conservative. Other days its throwing on a pair of shorts with converses and calling it a day. I love clothes and I love fashion. My dress is based according to my personality, mood and state of mind. Not my age. I don't think society should define style. They dictate you have to dress a certain way for your age. Well I'm sorry. I don't want to look older when I feel so much younger and that there's

When in Doubt Thrift

If you're a fashion girl like me, there are times when it seems the inspiration for planning what to wear from your wardrobe is like a job you know you have to go to but really don't love. So you just grab the same outfits out of the closet and leave feeling unfulfilled. Whenever I get into that slump I turn to several differ means of inspiration. Be it YouTube, Pinterest, Fashion magazines or Designer shows. Watching them  always tend to stir up the fashionista within, having me pulling out piles of clothing from my closet, and putting together outfits, I can't wait to wear.  Now you may ask, "How can I replicate the clothes media and fashion icons are wearing without a lot of money"? Relax you may not be able to have the same pieces they're wearing but you most certainly can replicate their looks using your own personal appeal. I have taken this approach for years.  I have champagne taste on a wine budget but dressing fashionably will never be c
Headwear is too often overlooked. If you're not into hats, why not try using scarves or a turban to give you that added special look. Paired dressed up or down the look will make you stand out. Fabrics may include silk, cotton or even velvet. Having a bad hair day? Just pull that hair back and throw on a colorful scarf. Not only will it cure that hair dilemma but may even brighten up your entire day.

Vintage gown with Designer Vibes

Vintage Gown with Designer Vibes This vintage piece caught my eye immediately when I spotted it hanging from the rack. It was mixed in the summer dress section. The hardware has this Versace vibe and a  deep thigh split. It made me a little apprehensive but I figured I could close up the split to my comfortability. No way was I going to leave it. Besides it was half off $7.99. YES!!!Someone must have eyed it from the formal wear section and later decided they did not want it. I decided to take a chance and purchase it without even trying it on. It just looked like it would fit. Got it home and it fit like a glove. Even the split was ok without having to alter it. Oh well it was just meant for me. I wonder if the person who first spotted it later had non purchase remorse.

How Do You Use Your Imagination With Accessory Pieces?

I'm always curious when I go thrifting, how to use a piece I purchase and turn it into a not just one way to wear item. If I purchase a blouse how many ways can it be worn other than the basic way? On or off the shoulder, worn in the front or in the back. When purchasing a scarf I can wear it around my neck, maybe on my head perhaps even as a top. I'll spot a vintage chunky belt, it would be cool to wear as a necklace. The other day I found this sequined skirt that was longer than I would normally wear. Thought about cutting it  but it would take away from its unique hem and design. Fortunately the waist was elasticized so I was able to pull it up toward my chest and wear it as a dress. Turned out AWESOME. So I challenge you the next time you are ready to spend your coins wherever you shop, think of way to stretch those dollars. Not only that by using your imagination you'll; find yourself wearing pieces in a way that will add dimension to your wardrobe.
