When in Doubt Thrift

If you're a fashion girl like me, there are times when it seems the inspiration for planning what to wear from your wardrobe is like a job you know you have to go to but really don't love. So you just grab the same outfits out of the closet and leave feeling unfulfilled. Whenever I get into that slump I turn to several differ means of inspiration. Be it YouTube, Pinterest, Fashion magazines or Designer shows. Watching them  always tend to stir up the fashionista within, having me pulling out piles of clothing from my closet, and putting together outfits, I can't wait to wear.

Now you may ask, "How can I replicate the clothes media and fashion icons are wearing without a lot of money"? Relax you may not be able to have the same pieces they're wearing but you most certainly can replicate their looks using your own personal appeal. I have taken this approach for years.

I have champagne taste on a wine budget but dressing fashionably will never be compromised. I took up an old past time of thrifting. When I was a child my mother would go to thrift and second hand stores. She mainly purchased books, housewares and toys for us. However I've ALWAYS loved fashion. I often played dress up with mom's clothes. When I grew older on my own I found myself doing the same going to thrift shops. I've also discovered vintage and consignment shops. The love for Vintage takes me back to mom's era where the ladies wore gloves, the pill box hats with nets and those pointed toe stiletto pumps. I still crave a pointed to pump! Back then they dressed with lady like style, and class without minding the extras. Also back then clothing was made with more detailed care and much better quality.

So my clothing pallet is full with unique pieces. Some I've had for years yet I continue to shop those second hand stores when its time to recycle pieces I no longer want. Purchasing second hand clothing may not be every one's cup of tea but it definitely helps with sustainability, improving the environment, and most of all allowing the pleasure of having a closet full of items that will allow you to live fashionably ever after.
